Here is a great find! The ball is in great condition and has the All-Star logo as pictured. This is a genuine NBA game ball Made in Korea. See excerpts from a 2002 New York Daily News article below. Game balls Made in Korea are almost impossible to find!

Beginning with the 2002/2003 season, NBA game balls were made in China. The 1998 All-star game was Kobes first and Jordan was the MVP.

We tried to find a similar ball on the web and couldnt. Let us know if you have any questions. From the New York Daily News, March 24, 2002, Follow the Bouncing Ball.. Spalding farmed out its top-grade balls to South Korea, to the Philippines, to Taiwan - to the same places as many of its competitors. And when Spalding signed an endorsement contract with the NBA in 1983, the path to Seoul and the Far East was already well established. The NBA's official basketballs are now as international as the cast of players who bounce and dunk them. In the parlance of the business, the balls have been "outsourced" - a euphemism for overseas production at cheaper labor costs. Seoul is only one depot in the process. The dimpled orange leather is exported from Gerard, Pa. The inner rubber arrives from Malaysia.

The nylon winding thread comes from Japan. The sub-contracted South Korean company, Synsheen, is independent of Spalding.

It outsources many of its own processes - preparation of the bladder and of the leather paneling, for example - to Qingdao, China. The ball is officially pieced together in Seoul, and is stamped, Made in Korea. The NBA game ball is produced only during a few weeks a year, from April to May, in order to maintain a two-year supply inhouse for Spalding. The total number of NBA game balls a year may come to 2,000, a relatively small quantity.

The process works like this: About 3,200 yards of nylon winding goes around the outside of an inflated bladder, producing the inner carcass. This takes place in China. The inner sphere is then covered with rubber, which includes molded, outer channels. In Korea, eight leather panels are fit by hand and glued into the channels.

Valves are coated with glycerine to make inflation easier. Back in Chicopee, Joe Gebski, a Spalding worker who has been at this job for 20 years, checks the basketballs on 10 different counts, inspecting cosmetics and air retention.

The bounce is tested on a laminated wooden wheel that shoots the ball onto a hardwood board 20,000 times. The ball is measured every 3,000 bounces for roundness and rebound, dropped from a height of six feet and expected to bounce back 52-56 inches.

The circumference of the NBA ball must be between 29. The item "Super Rare 1998 NBA All-Star Game Used Basketball Michael Jordan Kobe Bryant" is in sale since Sunday, March 31, 2019.
